Prague is a City unrivalled in history, steeped in culture, and rich in architecture. The most visited attraction is the Castle. Constructed in the 9th Century, 570 m long, on average 128 m wide, with an area of 7.28 hectares - it is the largest ancient castle in the world.
The 'Old Town', which can be traced back to 1091, is famous for 'Old Town Square', which is overlooked by theTown Hall and the Church of Our Lady of Tyn. The 'New Town' dates from the 14th Century, and was originally inhabited by those in Trade and Craft. It was redeveloped during the 19th Century. (See WebCam above for a roof top view of the Square.)
Josefov, or Prague Jewish Quarter, dates from the 13th Century, and has one of the most impressive cemeteries in the World. The Pinkas Synagogue is now a memorial to the 80,000 Bohemian and Moravian victims of the nazi concentration camps.
The Astronomical Clock should figure highly on your list, and you cannot come to Prague without walking over Charles Bridge. And remember, no matter how long your holiday, you will never have enough time to fully explore this most remarkable City, so plan carefully!
